School Facilities
The building is modern with four spacious well-equipped classrooms, a large general-purpose room, staff room, office,
kitchen and storeroom.
One of the classrooms accommodates Leap & Glandore Community Playschool that has capacity for 20 pupils.
It operates from 9.15am to 12.15pm Monday to Friday under the leadership of Christine Cowap.
In September 2023 we welcomed Curious Minds - Before School and Afterschool Club to our school. It is run by Shauna
O'Donovan, Manager and her co-worker, Neisha Twomey. They offer an emergent, play-based curriculum that
incorporates Aistar and Síolta. Children are given the opportunity to explore their surroundings, experiment with materials
and engage in free play. Curious Minds believe that children learn best through play. This builds confidence, creativity,
while they learn about a wide variety of things in an age appropriate way.
Outside there are three tarmacked playing areas as well as a grassed area to the side of the school. To the rear of the
school is a hilly area and a beautiful wooded area, which lends itself very well to nature study lessons. This is our outdoor
classroom.
Students have access to sixteen laptops, each having access to their own for course work and projects. All laptops
ave Internet access. These classes are closely supervised and pupils participate only where parental approval
is granted.
Three of our classrooms have Interactive White Boards. Each classroom has a well-stocked library. In addition, pupils
have access to a mobile library that calls on a regular basis to the school. We have a well established school garden.
Children get to grow plants from seed, look after them, watch them grow and of course harvest and taste the finished
products!
Our school hall acts as a general purpose room and is in constant use for concerts, physical education and special extra
curricular activities, for example Tae Kwon Do, Drama and Ceili dancing.
